Valerie Bertinelli Shares Emotional Video Honoring Eddie Van Halen

Valarie Bertinelli

Grief is a funny thing. Even though we might think we understand people’s feelings when they lose a loved one, it’s hard to really step into their shoes. A couple might be separated for years before one of them dies. That doesn’t mean that they don’t still have love and compassion for that person. Eddie Van Halen and Valerie Bertinelli married in 1981 and stayed together until 2001. They finalized their divorce 13 years before Eddie’s death in 2020, but Valerie still mourns the man she once loved.

Valerie Bertinelli Shared a Photo with Eddie Van Halen on Social Media

“Photos may fade, like old photos do, but not the memories and never the love,” Valerie captioned her Instagram post.

Many people thanked Valerie for sharing the photo and taking them back in time.

“You two were the cutest couple, and you have an amazing son together,” someone wrote. “That’s what love creates.”

Sadly, some trolls also came out and shamed Valerie Bertinelli for sharing a kind post about Eddie Van Halen on the anniversary of his death. She wasn’t interested in what they had to say and posted a clapback video reminding people to stay in their lane.

“It does not take long for me to get a lot of pushback when I post a picture of me and Ed. It used to really bother me. It does not, not any longer,” she said.

Valerie explained that people try to use what she called “coercive control” to make her feel like she can’t still have love for Eddie. But she’s not playing that game anymore.

“You can’t bother me. I love Ed, I’ll never stop loving Ed. And my heart loves a lot. Don’t you wish yours could too?”
