If you asked a 5-year-old what they wanted for their birthday, what do you think they would they say?
Tyler Sliz’s answer was the last thing his party guests expected. He said he wanted bedding, and once everyone learned the heartwarming reason behind his request, they were more than happy to oblige!

Tyler learned about the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace through his church in Illinois. The organization “builds and delivers beds to children who do not have a bed.” To do this, they rely on volunteers and donations, and Tyler wanted to be one of them!
He quickly discovered he had to be 12 years old before he could help put beds together, so he found another way to make a difference. And with support from his community, he changed other kids’ lives in a beautiful way!

When his birthday party arrived, each guest came with a special gift – for another child in need! Thanks to them, Tyler was able to give away 11 sets of bedding. Even better, his whole family went with him to make the donation, where they spent the day building bunk beds (while Tyler safely organized materials).
But that wasn’t the end of this wonderful boy’s act of kindness! He set out to gather 100 pieces of bedding by going around town to ask individuals, businesses, and even a state representative for donations. By mid-January, he’d surpassed his goal, and his parents (and the rest of the world) couldn’t be prouder!

This is one sweet birthday wish! Every child deserves a comfortable place to sleep, and Tyler is doing a great job making that happen.
