Trisha Yearwood & Don Henley Team Up For Emotional “Walkaway Joe” Duet

Trisha Yearwood Don Henley

Trisha Yearwood has officially been inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, and it was her close friend Don Henley who had the honor of welcoming her into the prestigious club.

Don took the stage to recognize the country music icon’s contributions to the recording industry on Oct. 17, 2023. When he handed Trisha her award, she joined the legends who came before her, such as B.B. King, Loretta Lynn, and Sheryl Crow.

After Don’s speech, Trisha took the microphone and paused to thank the former Eagles singer for his decades-long friendship and support. She followed up by asking him to help her perform her final act.

“I can’t imagine being on this stage and being honored by Don Henley and not asking him if he would come up here and help me finish my portion of the show,” Trisha Yearwood said.

“I try to not ask you to do too many things because you always say yes,” she added. “And I appreciate you very much.”

With that, the duo transitioned into an emotional performance of Walkaway Joe. Don Henley originally recorded the single with Trisha Yearwood in 1992. It went on to earn a Grammy nod in 1994 for Best Country Vocal Performance.

Trisha Yearwood joined the Hall of Fame along with the late John Prine. The event titled Austin City Limits 9th Annual Hall of Fame Honors Trisha Yearwood aired on PBS on March 2nd.

“Did this night really happen?! To say I had the time of my life in Austin is an understatement,” she wrote on Instagram after the night wrapped up. “…And Don Henley, this honor will forever mean that much more because you welcomed me into the @acltv Hall of Fame. Appreciate you, my friend!”
