Middle Schoolers Team Up To Buy Favorite Teacher New Shoes After His Were Stolen.

Everyone who knows Trey Payne understands just how much he cares about his students.

The feeling is mutual! Kindness and respect are always present in his classroom at Logan Fontenelle Middle School in Nebraska, which is why his students were so quick to cheer him up after his misfortune!

In January, someone stole Trey’s favorite shoes out of his office, the same pair he wore to referee the school’s basketball games. But he didn’t have to worry about replacing them. His students had that covered!

Why? Because “he’s the best teacher ever, and we love him so much.”

In a video shared online, we see the moment his class presents him with a gift bag. Trey’s eyes go wide as he pulls out a shoebox, and then he cries, “Are you serious?” Inside is a pair of Nike Zoom KD12 basketball shoes, which cost about $115.

Overwhelmed by their sweet gesture, Trey breaks down. These kids had all pitched in to brighten his day, and he just didn’t have the words to express what that meant to him.

Of course, his class knew what to do. They envelop their role model in a big group hug!

“It’s more than a pair of shoes,” Trey said. “It’s about doing things to build everyone up around you. I try to show my kids this, and I think the lesson has sunk in for many, in turn, reaffirming my purpose and my ideals.”

Could these middle schoolers be any more thoughtful? Trey is clearly doing something right in his classroom, and it’s rubbing off on his students. He must be so proud!
