One dog mom on social media has the cutest theory about why her deaf pooch loves watching sports on television. Now, she also has some video evidence to back it up! Sara caught the most adorable footage of her pup, Dory, staring at the screen during a football game. However, it was the canine’s reaction to the referee that specifically caught Mom’s attention.

You see, Sara had recently noticed that Dory sometimes responded to the hand signals she saw on television as though they were sign language. Whenever the referee came on during a sports game, it almost seemed like the deaf dog was watching out for commands! Once she caught this hilarious behavior on camera, Mom was certain that her pooch believed she was receiving messages through the screen.

In the video, Dory was watching the football game with intense focus, her face inches away from the television. However, when the referee appeared, the pooch did something strange — she went to her bed to lie down. Why? Because the man on screen was pointing in that direction, so that’s what she thought he was telling her to do!

“Dory is deaf and I suspected recently that she was paying attention to the referee’s hand signals as well but now I have actual proof of it on video,” Sara wrote in her caption. “After she saw the hand signal she walked over to lay down on her bed. We love her so much!”

This adorable clip has received over two million views. Some commenters pointed out that the deaf dog didn’t look happy about being “asked” to go away by the referee!

“She looked so disappointed,” wrote one user. “‘Why do I have to leave?'”

Another added, “C’mon ref she wanted to finish the game that was precious.”

We hope poor Dory didn’t take it too personally!
