The world recently found out that Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the novel coronavirus. They were in Australia at the time, so they received treatment there. Thankfully, they have both recovered and were able to head home.
After hearing how Woody from “Toy Story” had gotten sick, an 8-year-old from Australia wrote Hanks a note wishing him well. In the letter, he also explained that he was being bullied at school because his name is Corona DeVries. To no one’s surprise, Hanks decided to reach out to encourage the struggling boy.

Corona mentioned the kids at school were calling him “Coronavirus,” which made him feel sad. But the sweet boy still wanted to send some extra love Hanks’ way.
Not even a month later, Corona got the most amazing reply from Hanks himself! He received a special typewriter Hanks mentioned on Instagram while he was still in Australia – which happens to be called “Corona.”
He also got a heartwarming letter that Hanks typed out using Corona’s gift!
“Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful!” Hanks said. “Thank you for being such a good friend – friends make their friends feel good when they are down.”
At the end, Hanks signed his autograph along with a handwritten PS that read, “You’ve got a friend in me.”

What a sweet way to encourage a child going through a difficult time! Hanks might just be a better friend than Woody, and Woody is a really good friend.
