When this soldier found a four-legged pal overseas, she had no expectation that the pup would become hers once she returned home. But through Paws of War, with the help of Gavin DeGraw, this woman was able to reunite with her lost dog friend!
Paws of War is a non-profit that serves soldiers through animals. When overseas, soldiers often find animals they connect with. Whether they find a dog or a cat, Paws of War seeks to bring those animals home so that soldiers and veterans can find comfort.
This week, country singer Gavin DeGraw helped the cause, reuniting an adorable dog with a hero just before Christmas. Gavin’s family has a background in the military, so it’s a cause that’s close to his heart.
U.S. Army Air Defense Officer First Lt. Alyse Schnurr was the soldier Gavin worked with. Her gratitude was palpable as she was handed her pup.
“It made me way more emotional than I thought it would, but I’m so excited to have her back here already,” she recalled.
