This Aquarium Is Naming Their New Komodo Dragon, And They’re Taking Suggestions!

A Komodo dragon is fed in his new habitat at the aquarium.

There’s a new resident at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Utah: a baby Komodo dragon! After settling in, all this lizard needs is a name. The aquarium recently issued a press release calling on the public for their best suggestions, and KSL tells us that at least 300 names have been submitted so far. Apparently, the current top picks are “Sunda” (after a group of Indonesian islands), “Raja” (Indonesian for “king”), and “Naga” (Indonesian for “dragon”).

Born at the Bronx Zoo, the lizard is three feet long and weighs in at around three pounds. This baby Komodo dragon won’t be that small forever, though; he could reach up to 200 pounds as an adult! If you’ve got a great name for this scaly critter, the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is still accepting submissions here.
