Dolly Parton’s death shocked the world on August 25, 2026. Though the music shared health challenges, the public wasn’t aware of how serious Dolly’s condition really was until after she passed away. Her niece, Jada Star, told “Extra” Dolly Parton’s death came as a “shock” because so few people knew she was battling cancer. Dolly kept that information to herself intentionally, Jada shared.

“She never wanted to worry anybody,” Jada said. “You know, we kind of kept all that stuff real private.”

Millions Mourned Dolly Parton’s Death from Cancer

Though fans didn’t know Dolly Parton had cancer, they wrapped her family in love and shared prayers and kind wishes as soon as they heard the news of her death.

“It’s also been really bittersweet because of this beautiful opportunity we’ve had to see how much the whole world loves her,” Jada said. “So, all of these tributes have helped so much to help us all through it.”

She added that Dolly Parton would not have wanted her family, friends, and fans to wallow in sadness. Instead, she’d want them to continue finding joy in life.

“She would also tell us to start drying it up and start trying to get back to work,” Jada laughed. “And to love each other real hard. Yeah, she was just a trip.”

Fans encouraged Jada and thanked her for sharing her love for Dolly with the world.

“Go shine Jada!!!!! She will always be watching over you and you have a heart of gold it’s so easy to see and she would be so proud of you. You’re an amazing person. Prayers for you and your wonderful family,” a fan shared.

This person agreed, writing, “What a wonderful niece and what a great credit she is to Dolly. Classy all the way, just like her precious aunt.”
