Lindsey Engler and Kaitlyn Mendenhall spent some of the best days of their childhood hanging out at their grandma’s house. They may be all grown up now, but their relationship with 92-year-old Eve Patterson is still as strong as ever! So, when Eve expressed a wish to join her granddaughters on one of their 5K races, they knew they needed to find a way to make it happen.

After posing their question to a running group online, they found out about Ainsley’s Angels, an organization that provides mobility aids. Eve received a running-friendly wheelchair, and her granddaughters were able to bring her along on their next race. They even made matching team t-shirts with their family’s lucky number on them!
“I always wanted to do this, but I didn’t think I’d do it in a wheelchair!” Eve told ABC 6.
