Robin Williams was known for making people laugh. He was also a bit of a prankster. Eric Roberts, Julie Roberts’ big brother, recently published his memoir, Runaway Train: Or the Story of My Life So Far. In it, he details a prank that he and Robin coordinated to play on Julia when she visited Eric in New York. This happened before Julia was famous, but Robin was already a star.

Eric Impressed Julia With The People He Knew
Eric explained in the book that he used to hang out at Café Central amongst the likes of Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and, of course, Robin Williams. Julia thought this was very cool, so Eric tapped Robin for help with a little scheme.
He wrote, “I told Robin, ‘My baby sister’s gonna be in town this week. Gotta freak her out for me.'” Robin responded, “Yeah, no problem. Okay.”
Eric shared that he and Julia were eating at Café Central when Robin suddenly appeared.
“So I’m in one of the windows with Julie and we’re having a hamburger, and here comes Robin Williams,” Eric wrote. “He walks over, looks at her, opens the door, grabs her hamburger, and bolts out the door. Julie freaks out, ‘Was that Robin Williams?!'”
Eric responded, “I think it was, honey.”
A shocked Julia exclaimed, “He took my hamburger!”
Eric said it was the perfect surprise for Julia, “That was Robin being Mork, because he was already in that hit show Mork and Mindy, which was tailor-made for his antic spirit,” he wrote. “I was delighted to be able to impress my baby sister!”
Julia and Robin starred together years later in Stephen Spielberg’s 1991 fantasy, Hook, based on the story of Peter Pan.
