Chance Ward and his son, 17-year-old Rowdy, live in Cleveland, about an hour-and-a-half north of Houston, which took the brunt of the hurricane and is suffering under massive flooding.
But the flooding extended beyond Houston, and when the Ward men read a post asking for someone to help rescue several horses that had been left stranded inside a pen, they gladly answered the call. Chance, Rowdy and other members of their community teamed up and pulled together to save animals of all shapes and sizes!
One clip showed Rowdy pulling at the gate to the locked pen to save one of the locked-in horses.

Another showed the crew driving a couple hundred head of cattle to safety:

And one showed a resident evacuating, trudging through water that reached nearly to his waist. His poor dog was paddling along behind him…

That was until the man finally reached down and scooped him up:

“There is a lot of sad out of this storm, but I look at the positive. I have helped in numerous floods with livestock,” Chance wrote.

“We were able to swim in and save four of these horses today. One of the greatest feelings in the world is having my best partner by my side. My 17 year old son.â€

“If you look, you can see us talking as this is no big deal. There are a lot of great cowboys, plenty that are willing to do the same as us.”

Facebook
“We made livestock our first priority, as I know many are helping people. Thanks to all the hands that help us today.â€
