Teen’s Metal-Detector Magic Saves The Day For This Now-Engaged Tennessee Couple.

The Tennessee couple smile and pose after getting engaged. The man is on one knee and the woman happily shows off the engagement ring on her hand. The Myrtle Beach Police Department officer and another man pose with them.

It was the perfect plan – after taking photos with a professional photographer at various spots on Myrtle Beach, this man from Tennessee would propose to the love of his life. For most of the day, this plan went off without a hitch. Then, as the big moment drew closer, the man made a gut-wrenching realization: The engagement ring was gone.

With that realization, their plans quickly changed. It was time to find that ring, and it was time to find it fast. As soon as he could, the man ran up to John Lively, a Beach Patrol Officer for the Myrtle Beach Police Department. He was hoping the officer could help them locate the precious ring.

Luckily, John and two other officers, Sean Owens and Zachary Stashick, were able to jump into action, combing over every part of the beach the Tennessee couple had been that day. When another officer, Shon McCluskey, joined later, he brought his dog, K9 Goggles, who was able to use the situation for a training exercise.

Still, their search didn’t lead them to the ring. While in the middle of their hunt, a 15-year-old named Isaiah Krekeler asked if he could help. He was visiting Myrtle Beach from Ohio, and he had his metal detector with him.

As much as it must have felt like a long-shot to find the ring by that point, it took less than a minute for this sleuthing teen to discover the lost ring! At that point, the gentleman from Tennessee was finally able to ask his girlfriend a very important question – and she said yes!

“The Myrtle Beach community pulls together anytime, anywhere, for anyone!” the Myrtle Beach Police Department shared on Facebook. “We wish the engaged couple a happy future!”

Needless to say, the happy couple couldn’t be more grateful that Isaiah found their ring. That being said, we’re not so sure they’ll follow through on what he asked in return.

“If they have a son, name the son after me,” Isaiah told Good Morning America.
