A few states over in Arizona, Patricia Winters, a 35-year-old mother of two, was suffering from a failing heart. She was to become the lucky recipient of Taylor’s heart. While most transplant associations are hesitant to give out donor’s names, Patricia was able to find out using the internet. She didn’t, however, reach out to the Storch family to let them know.
Then one day Patricia found a link to a story on WFFA News in which Tara Storch, Taylor’s mother, shared that she couldn’t wait until the day when she could hug the person who had Taylor’s heart. Touched by Tara’s dream, Patricia reached out via email and invited the Storches to visit her family in Arizona.
The video below shows the incredibly touching moment when these two mothers met for the first time, a moment when Tara and her husband got to see their daughter living on through another person.
Here’s our takeaway: As hard as it may be, consider becoming an organ donor today so you can impact someone else’s life.
