Target Will Soon End Its Price Match Guarantee

Target Price Match Guarantee

Many American households find themselves crunching numbers to make ends meet. As prices for everyday items continue to soar, shopping for the best deal is essential for a lot of families. But it isn’t always easy to shop multiple retailers, so price matching can be a shopper’s best friend. For years, Target offered customers a “Price Match Guarantee” allowing them to purchase items advertised at a lower price at Walmart or on Amazon. Beginning on July 28, Target will discontinue the policy.

“We’re always working to deliver consumers outstanding value and give them confidence to choose Target, with our everyday low prices, affordable and quality-focused owned brands, incredible deals,” according to a statement obtained by Today.

Target Feels Their Prices Will Beat Other Retailers

“Target’s Price Match Guarantee, paired with our commitment to being priced right daily, ensures guests get great prices when shopping Target,” the statement continues. “We’ve found our guests overwhelmingly price match Target and not other retailers, which reflects the great value and trust in pricing consumers see across our assortment and deals.”

Target customers will have until July 28 to use the Price Match Guarantee. After that, Target will only price match to other stores or Target online.

The news was met with mixed reactions.

Some people hated the idea.

“No guests complained about this btw. In fact, guests complained when Target first shortened the price match options to just Target, Walmart and Amazon. Used to be all of those, Best Buy, Costco, GameStop, etc. Greed kills,” an unhappy customer shared on X.

“Starting next week, @Target will only match THEIR OWN prices. What ‘guest feedback’ did they receive that prompted this change? Seriously – who’s the Karen that contacted Target and said ‘I really don’t like that you match competitor prices,'” another person agreed.

Others feel like Target’s prices are competitive even without the Price Match Guarantee.

“Tbh Target does well matching Amazon pricing already. Many times I check Amazon to price match, and they both have the same price,” they shared.
