Jane Bright, a contestant on 2010’s Survivor: Nicaragua, has died. The 71-year-old passed away on May 15, according to a Facebook post from her daughter, Ashley Hammett.

“Today, Jane Hammett Bright was found passed away within her home by a good friend and county sheriff,” Ashley wrote.
Just two days before, Jane, an animal lover and dog trainer, posted about a missing Sheltie in North Carolina.
It appears Jane’s death came as a surprise to those who loved her.
“What?!! OMG. We just saw her at the BRSSC Specialties this past weekend. Very sorry for your loss and may God keep her close,” a friend wrote on Ashley’s Facebook post about Jane Bright.
Another friend wrote, “I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was such a force of nature. It’s hard to believe she’s gone. God speed her soul and may her memory be a blessing to you.”

Although Jane Bright didn’t win her season of Survivor, many fans loved her. She was tenacious and kind and made an impression on the Survivor community.
“Tougher than a $2 steak! Jane Bright is one of the most incredible Survivors I’ve ever met. There’s never been a more resolute player in the history of the game. Love you Jane, the ‘Survivor’ community has lost one of the best,” Jonny Fairplay wrote.
David Healy shared, “There have been a few ‘Survivor’ contestants that have passed away, but Jane Bright is the first one I have truly considered a friend. She was always so kind to me. I’ll never forget her accidentally sabotaging an escape game we were playing. Lol. Wish I could have one more hug.”
A Survivor fan shared a funny memory of Jane /bright, “My favorite Jane Bright moment was calling out future country music star Chase for ‘wanting to get into Brenda’s pants.’ Rest in peace one of the four pillars carrying Nicaragua along with Fabio, Holly, and NaOnka.”
