Depending on the family, a funeral and wake can be somber or joyful. Each family handles the death of a loved one differently. When Brooke’s dad passed away recently, the family did something unique. According to one video, Larry gave Brooke a list of things he wanted after his death. At the top of the list was the inflatable man he wanted at his funeral.

With her dad’s list in hand, Brooke went shopping on Amazon. She purchased a nine-foot-tall inflatable man for the funeral. Ordering the item in black seemed the best option so the surprise “guest” would fit in. Brooke explained that Larry had tried to discuss his list with her mother, but Mom thought he was only joking. Watching her reaction when she saw the inflatable man was perfect.
Stopping to look, she did a double take. As the undulating inflatable man performed his funeral dance, she laughed. The joke was on her since she neglected to take Larry seriously. But there it was. One of her husband’s last wishes.
Larry had a heart attack in February 2023. Although he lived another year, that event was significant. The year gave Larry the time to organize his thoughts and prepare his family for his death. When a family can recall their memories with a sense of humor, the grieving process is easier. For Brooke’s family, Larry’s enjoyment of life spiced up his funeral. It’s hard to stay sad when an inflatable man is waving crazily at you during the funeral!
