Stunning Time-Lapse Video Shows A Year Of Mango Tree’s Growth In 50 Seconds.

Mango trees are very slow-growing. When started from a seed, it might be ten or more years before the tree produces edible fruit. That’s a long time to exercise patience! Mango trees make beautiful houseplants, and many people grow them for that purpose without worrying about whether or not they produce fruit. No matter which camp you are in, we found an incredible time-lapse video that shows the growth of a mango tree from seed.

The video opens with the slicing of a mango fruit to remove the seed. The process is in hyperspeed, but you can observe each step. The steps are easy to duplicate if you decide to grow your own mango tree. Once the seed is obtained, it is placed in a petri dish and misted with water. Within five days, we see a noticeable root extending from the seed.

After 12 days, we see a longer root and small leaves. On the 13th day, the seed is ready for soil. Under a very thin layer of dirt, the seed receives a good soaking. Within a couple of days, the plant has begun to peek through the soil. By day 23, we see a healthy stem standing up straight. After 30 days, the plant is forming well.

At that point, the video shows a rapid progression as the plant grows and matures. Over a 365-day period, we watch the tree go from seed to a tall, majestic, and beautiful plant. The time-lapse shows the growth over the next several months until one year has passed. The resulting plant is amazingly healthy-looking and tall!
