Anyone with kiddos knows that traveling, especially by air, can be a totally nerve-racking experience.

Tensions are always high on planes and people are super stressed out, which amplifies the anxiety factor for things that people normally brush off in day-to-day life. A fussy baby at Target will usually garner sympathetic glances and comforting smiles from strangers, fussy babies on planes for some reason make people irate. (Imagine being that little and trying to figure out how you got so high up in the air!) Mama Jessica Rudeen knows this all too well.

While on a flight with her four-month-old infant Alexander and three-year-old daughter Caroline, the kids started getting totally stressed out. “I want to get off the plane!” Caroline shouted, kicking the seat in front of her. “I don’t want to go!”

Then the infant got hungry, but she wasn’t able to feed him right away due to all the chaos. That’s when one kind man named Todd stepped in to offer her a helping hand.

In Jessica’s words, “This man reached for the baby and held him while I forced a seatbelt on Caroline, got her tablet and started her movie. Once she was settled and relatively calmed, he distracted her so that I could feed Alexander.”

Throughout the flight, Todd chatted with little Caroline and helped her color, pointing to all the cool stuff she could see outside the window. “By the end of the flight, he was Caroline’s best friend. I’m not sure if he caught the kiss she landed on his shoulder while they were looking out the window,” Mom said.

Oddly enough, they had the same connecting flight, much to everyone’s delight! According to Todd’s wife Stacey, they once dealt with a similar thing with their family and someone extended the same sort of kindness. Todd was more than happy to pay it forward to help a mother in need.

“I am blown away by God’s hand in this because we could have been placed next to anyone, but we were seated next to one of the nicest men I have ever met in my life,” Jessica said. She didn’t get his contact information when they got off the flight, but using details he’d told her about his life, she managed to find his wife via social media! They’re planning to get together soon.
