“It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” a source told People, adding, “they feel very blessed.”

Aubrey Plaza’s Baby News Comes A Year After Losing Her Husband

In January 2025, Aubrey Plaza lost her husband, Jeff Baena, to suicide. The pair began dating in 2010 and married in 2020. In August 2025, Aubrey opened up about her husband’s death with her Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler on the Good Hang podcast.

“Overall, I’m here, and I’m functioning. I feel grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m okay. It’s like a daily struggle, obviously,” she told Amy.

She added that laughter has certainly helped her along.

“We have a text chain, we do Zooms and trips, those girls make me laugh really hard,” Aubrey. said. “We’ve known each other for so long. That’s the best thing that makes me laugh, all my funny friends.”

Many shared kind words with Aubrey Plaza after hearing her baby news.

“That’s great news. Aubrey deserves happiness- I don’t understand people saying it’s too soon when men literally LEAVE their wives in the cancer diagnosis stages! Also, not that it is any of anyone’s business but Aubrey was separated from her ex husband when he sadly passed,” someone shared on X.

“Before everyone judges about her former husband’s death: HE took his own life in January of 2025. HE DID THAT. She is now 41 yrs old. Maybe she really wants a child & she realizes nothing is promised & time is of the essence. Life is short. Mind your business,” another fan added.

We hope that Audrey Plaza and Chris Abbott’s baby brings them nothing but joy and love.
