Spooky Skills! 1-Legged Comedian Pulls Off Coolest Halloween Costume Ever.

Josh Sunderquist

Josh Sundquist wears a lot of hats, but it’s his annual Halloween costume that has earned him viral fame for more than a decade.

The popular content creator lost his leg to cancer when he was just 9 years old, but he has never let his limb difference stop him from pursuing a fascinating and active lifestyle. In fact, Josh has written multiple books, become a Paralympic ski racer, and is a motivational speaker who travels to schools and corporations around the world.

Back in 2010, Josh’s hilarious Gingy the Gingerbread Man from “Shrek” made the internet sit up and take notice. The idea of incorporating his missing leg into his annual costumes appealed to Josh, so he continued the tradition every year. He sometimes spends months preparing his costume and readying his body for the challenge.

Throughout the years, a few of his stand-out outfits have included a flamingo perching on one leg, Tigger from “Winnie the Pooh,” the Genie from “Aladdin,” and the Pixar lamp.

Like everything else, the COVID-19 pandemic meant celebrating a little bit differently in 2020. Josh decided to go forward with his tradition, but he incorporated health recommendations like choosing an outfit that allowed him to wear a face mask underneath.

His costume, Groot from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise was one of his best yet!

Josh said he chose Groot because of the character’s cheerful disposition.

“Obviously, the pandemic has been catastrophic and sad,” said Josh. “It’s presented us with innumerable limitations. But limitations can force us to be creative in ways we would not otherwise have imagined. I mean, look at my Halloween costumes. I also love that he’s dancing, smiling and just generally having a good time despite all the challenges that the Guardians had just been through together. Dressing up as an extraterrestrial tree monster who has overcome a tough year is so 2020.”

When the pandemic stretched into 2021, how did Josh top that incredible Groot costume? Well, he started by hitting the gym to practice contorting his body into a very inhuman shape. After months of getting his posture just right, Josh unveiled his 2021 costume: The Microscope!

Can you imagine the strength it took to hold that pose? Josh continues to use his creative Halloween costumes to showcase his creativity and physical fitness! We’re on the edge of our seat to see what costuming feat he pulls off next year.

Watch Josh transform himself into a microscope in the video below, and be sure to share.
