Teen Constructs Instrument Out Of PVC Pipe, Then Stuns Friends With Incredible Mashup Performance.

Snubby J is a YouTuber, musician and inventor that’s made quite the name for himself in the experimental music community. When Snubby was in high school, he was caught on camera performing on his homemade instrument. The video went viral in a matter of weeks and launched the young musician into an early and successful touring career. It’s that very, life changing video that we are excited to share with you today.

The video, uploaded in 2010, features Snubby J performing on the very first working prototype of his signature PVC pipe instrument, affectionately known as RimbaTubes. The instrument mimics the tone and function of the marimba or xylophone, but uses airflow controlled by Snubby’s paddles to produce a unique sound.

Snubby performed a meldy of 13 popular songs from the last few decades for an awesome crowd at the Del Era South Talent Show. Snubby performed incredible renditions of songs like Linus and Lucy, Bad Romance and Viva La Vida and of course included fan favorites like the Mario theme song.

Believe it or not, Snubby did not win the talent show that day. He tied for first place with his friend, Quinn, who is apparently the most skilled Yo-Yo master of all time. Check out Snubby’s awesome debut performance in the video below!
