View from behind of a man in a cave at a canyon in Utah. He's moving an arm back to skip a rock on the water near him

There are countless small wonders in our world. Many of them, however, go unnoticed. That’s part of the reason why adventurers like Braxton Fish try to capture, and share, as many of them as possible. This includes the beauty of the ripple effect that results from skipping rocks. There’s no telling how many times Braxton has skipped rocks on water in his life, but doing so in Utah blew him away.

This magical moment took place at the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument. This beautiful desert is full of breathtaking spaces. At some point, Braxton found himself in an area of the canyon that is a bit tucked away. Beneath the carved-out canyon is a pool of water. When Braxton tosses the rock, it skips along the water twice. This in and of itself is not so surprising. What does take his breath away, however, is the ripple effect on the ceiling/walls of the canyon. This view of a rocks’ ripple effect is quite unique, and it has folks from all around the world feeling surprisingly emotional.

“I feel like I could write an essay about this,” someone shares in the comment section of the video, with another adding, “This is a metaphor somehow, not sure how.”

“The choices you make can have reflections so unexpected,” a third person chimes in, “they shift your understanding of the entire world.”

Braxton’s bio on social media reads, “Nature is your playground.” What a perfect way to summarize both this beautiful moment in Utah and the beautiful relationship we can all have with our world!
