A local bowling club in Chadstone, Melbourne is in serious danger of getting bulldozed as developers look to build a $25 million stadium where the club currently stands.
But Chadstone residents aren’t letting their beloved club go without a fight.
Fans of the Chadstone Bowls Club are flocking to the Residents Against the Stadium Facebook page to express their concerns and share their love of the club. One 90-year-old member even described it as his “bowling ‘home,'” a hub for the community.
To get Stonnington City Council’s attention, residents have written letters, started an online petition, and– now– have even resorted to creating their own brilliantly clever music video!
In the hilarious video below, 3 Chadstone grannies– Terry Foster, 82, Janie Hall, 82, and Wyn Hewett, 72– break it down to the tune of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” but pay attention to the lyrics!
The video has been viewed over 1.2 million times, and it’s easy to see why.
No word yet on what will happen to the Chadstone Bowl Club, but it’s safe to say there’s no way the city council is going to miss this viral video!
Watch the “Bowling Ladies” below, and share!
Now this is something to see…. the ladies at Chadstone Bowls Club have had enough of Stonnington City Council wanting to demolish their club….Please watch, help and please SHARE with everyone you know! It is fantastic!
