Ever since Skyler Maxey-Wert was a kid, he’s been surrounded by creativity of all kinds. His dad was a mime, and his living room was arranged to leave plenty of space for dancing and playing music.
For this 25-year-old, his medium of choice has always been dance, leading him to pursue a ballet career in Germany when he was just 18 years old. As much as he’s loved his chosen art form, Skyler decided to give another one he’s always been interested a shot: Singing. He started by posting videos on Instagram. From the beginning, he got lots of positive feedback, but one fan in particular especially changed his life… Brandon Boyd, the front man of the rock band Incubus!
With his encouragement, Skyler traveled back to the U.S. to audition for American Idol! This talented performer was nervous about singing for such a large audience, but nevertheless he waltzed right in and blew the judges away, earning him a standing ovation!
Watch Skyler’s beautiful performance below and don’t forget to share.
