Singer With Unusual Voice Doubts Himself — Then He Auditions For “The Voice.”

Lennon VanderDoes sings passionately into a mic as he plays the guitar on "The Voice," performing "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron.

Although Lennon VanderDoes has always had a unique singing voice, he hasn’t always seen this as a positive thing. In fact, he used to think that because his voice is so different, he’d never have a chance on a show like “The Voice.” This week, Lennon learned just how wrong he was in that assumption. Not only did the audience fall in love with his voice but so did the coaches!

Within seconds of Lennon singing “The Night We Met” by Lord Huron, the coaches began to hit their buttons. By the end, everyone except Reba, who already had a full team, turned around. This clearly meant the world to Lennon who, just a year ago, quit his job to become a full-time musician — he had almost nothing in his bank account when he made that choice.

“I couldn’t have turned around quicker if I tried,” Niall Horan shared, later adding, “As you can imagine, there’s a lot of people that come out here and play guitar and singer-songwriter stuff, but not many people come out with a unique tone.”

Horan, John Legend, and Gwen Stefani fought hard to get Lennon on their team, but who did he choose?
