Briggitte Dix founded the Cottontail Cottage for rescues exactly like this one. As a licensed rehabber, she and her team seek to help as many injured creatures as they can. Although they help quite a few wild species, they’re especially focused on rabbits. Still, a recent bunny rescue was especially dire. The poor creature, who they named Holly, was discovered after being hit by a car.

As a result, Holly had serious head trauma. By the time she arrived to Cottontail Cottage, she was “skin and bones,” according to the center’s Instagram post. At first, there were doubts she’d make it, but Briggitte’s team never gave up. In turn, sweet Holly was able to make a full recovery!
“… she couldn’t even eat by herself for the first few days but we knew she had a strong will to live so we did everything we could to help her,” the post continues.
Harrowing Bunny Rescue Gets a Happy End
With time and lots of love and care, Holly found herself able to hop back into the wild where she belongs. But before she could leave, it seems that even she needed one last moment with the humans who took such good care of her.
“Today we took her out to a beautiful spot to set her free,” the post concludes, “and when we did she hopped off so incredibly happy and then almost immediately circled back to us as if she was saying ‘I’m going to be okay, thank you for taking care of me’ it was a really special moment for us.”
