True friendship isn’t always cookie-cutter-perfect. Friendships come in many different shapes and forms, and each is beautiful and unique!
At the end of March, two animals who are completely bonded to one another were taken into temporary custody by the Wake County Animal Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Felix is a 1-year-old bulldog mix, and his best buddy in the whole world is a goat named Cinnamon.
Their owner could no longer care for the pair, but explained that the dog and goat do everything together except eat their meals. They sleep together, play together, and spend every waking moment keeping one another company, so the owner requested that they go to a new home together.
This turned out to be a difficult task for shelter workers. They are used to accommodating bonded pairs of pets, but a dog-goat combo was a little out of the norm!
The shelter put out a few feelers with other area rescue groups, then shared a post on social media asking for potential adopters to step forward. The post quickly went viral, and thousands of animal fans fell in love with sweet Cinnamon and Felix.
As luck would have it, a local farm the shelter contacted decided to add Felix and Cinnamon to their herd! They’d worked with the shelter in the past, so they were cleared to adopt, and everything went very smoothly. Most importantly, the farmers agreed to keep the bonded pair together forever!
In a statement, the duo’s new permanent foster mom seemed pretty excited to welcome them to their farm.
“We are so blessed to be able to foster Felix and Cinnamon!” said Jacqui Bankes, “As their forever foster, we are excited to keep them together and also integrate them with our other goats and dogs, after appropriate testing and quarantine. Thank you to Wake County and Mr. Mo Project for making this possible for us!”
Who doesn’t love a happy ending! Animal rescuers work so hard to find the perfect home for the pets who cross their paths. We are forever grateful for their dedication and perseverance!
