Bill and Glad met when they were just 8 years old; by the time Bill was 17 and Glad was 16, the two had fallen in love… And that love was unconditional. When the couple took their wedding vows, those vows were for life.
50 years later, Bill and Glad’s love is being like never before. Around 2005, Glad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, and it’s been a daily challenge ever since. But when Bill promised to love his wife “in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad” he meant it. Now Bill cares for Glad’s every need and expresses his love for her full-heartedly.
Since Glad’s diagnosis, Bill has had to take care of her completely. “From the moment she gets up to the moment she goes to bed, I have to do everything,” the devoted husband says in the video below. But you’ll never hear him complain. In fact, Bill goes a step beyond just meeting Glad’s needs– he goes the extra mile to make sure she has joy in her life and to demonstrate his affection for her… In the form of a special bike chair.
The chair attaches to the front of his bike so that he can ride with Glad to the beach. The two rode bikes together when they were young, and the chair reminds Glad of those happy times.
