Wedding photographers get to witness a couple’s special moments, but every once in a while, they also get to play an active role in the event.
Miranda Anderson is a photographer in British Colombia, Canada, who found herself in the middle of a double surprise engagement. It all started when a woman named Savi Nukala hired her for a couple’s photo shoot.
Savi has been with her boyfriend, Sharath Reddy, for more than two and a half years. The past six months have been tough on them. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they had to live separately for the better part of the year.
All that time apart made them realize how much they mean to one another, so both Savi and Sharath secretly began to plan a way for them to be together forever.
Savi went out, bought a ring for Sharath, and told Miranda that she planned to pop the question during their photo shoot! The two of them worked out a special signal so Miranda would be ready to capture the moment on camera.
What Savi didn’t know was that Sharath had also quietly reached out to Miranda. He planned to propose during the shoot, too!
On the big day, when Sharath turned around and saw Savi on one knee, holding out a ring, he promptly reached into his pocket and pulled out his own engagement ring for her!
Both Savi and Sharath burst into laughter and tears of joy as they realized what they’d done. We guess it’s true: Great minds really do think alike!
“It went so perfectly and what happened brought tears to my eyes as they both simultaneously proposed to one another,” Miranda said later. “This quickly became my favorite proposal I have been a part of, thank you for having me!”
Great news – they both said yes! The newly-engaged couple celebrated with champagne. Miranda captured every smile, hug, and happy memory for them, and now the pictures are going viral online.
The photographer soon had the privilege of capturing their small, intimate wedding ceremony as well.
“Savi and Sharath got married in front of their 10 closest friends while the rest of their family and friends from all over the world watched on livestream,” Miranda explained.
Talk about a memorable engagement! These two are clearly on the same page, so we’re certain theirs will be a loving, harmonious union. Congratulations to the happy couple!
