Teen Uses TikTok To “Share A Meal” With People With Eating Disorders.

Eating disorders are incredibly isolating, as people living with them often hide their habits and struggles from loved ones. But one teen is helping those affected feel less alone through an unexpected platform.

Sara Sadok of Chicago, Illinois, doesn’t suffer from disordered eating herself, but someone she cares about does. That’s what inspired her to help those in recovery by eating “with” strangers on TikTok.

In October, the 18-year-old recorded herself eating a meal and inviting anyone watching to join her. In it, she takes a bite, encourages her audience to take the next, then congratulates them. Many have already eaten with Sara via the app’s duet function, and they say it’s helped them tremendously!

Check out the simple yet powerful video below, and share as a reminder to others that they’re never alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, call or text the National Eating Disorders Association helpline at (800) 931-2237. Help is waiting.
