Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling may be major celebrities, but they have the same parenting frustrations as the rest of us—like bedtime routines.

During an interview with Today, Eva shared insight into her busy life as a stay-at-home mom. The starlet has recently taken time away from the screen so she can focus more on her two daughters, Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 7, and Ryan can focus on his exploding Hollywood career.
While talking to Hoda Kotb, Eva shared that her days are filled with school drop-offs and pickups, homework, and the typical chores that come with parenting. So when it’s bedtime, she means business. Nights are her time to plan the next day and relax, so she’s ready for some downtime.
“You want to get all the things done and lined up so they’re in bed at that time so that you can have a life, but also so they can get their hours of sleep,” she said.
But a few years ago, one of her girls called her out for being “different” at night, which is something many parents are guilty of.
“She’s like, ‘Nighttime Mama is kind of, like, different,'” Eva shared.
When Eva asked her to elaborate, her daughter gave her some sage advice.
“‘Well, Nighttime Mama, you just have to chill your life down at night.'” Eva recalled her saying. “I was dying because I was like, ‘I do have to chill my life down at night.'”
According to a source, Eva often handles the brunt of parenting while Ryan Gosling maintains a hectic filming schedule. So it’s important that she gets that precious time to decompress at night. But Ryan is always good about helping when he’s home.
“Ryan is such a fun dad. He is goofy and his girls love it,” the source told People. “He takes them out by himself for various activities. As a family, they enjoy visiting the desert and the beach. They are a very active family. Eva and Ryan seem happy. They tend to be flirty and hold hands. It’s cute.”
