When golden retriever, Rosie delivered her four puppies, her foster parents were both thrilled and confused at the sight of the pups. Despite their mom’s typical golden fur, these little babies had coats that resembled a cow’s!
Katie and John Black serve as the heads of Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue and often serve as foster parents to rescues while they work to find them forever homes. By the time Rosie showed up, the couple had already fostered around 20 dogs at one point or another.
Rosie was different, though, since she was pregnant when she arrived. John and Katie didn’t really have expectations for what the puppies would look like, but were still shocked when all four babies came out with black and white fur.
After the puppies arrived, Katie posted a photo on Reddit with a caption that read, “Not quite what we were expecting – Our foster dog and Golden Mix gave birth yesterday. To baby cows.”
Katie and John really leaned into the cow theme, and loving named the dogs Daisy, Clarabelle, Betsy, and Moo. Understandably, they fell in love with the sweet babies as quickly as Rosie did and loved having the opportunity to foster four more dogs in their home.
Once the little cows, oops, dogs, grew up a little more they were all put up for adoption along with Rosie. All five pups were eventually adopted into loving forever homes.
Take a look at the little pups nursing on their mom shortly after birth (and listen to those adorable little puppy sounds!). Be sure to share the story with anyone who could use a dose of cute today!
