On August 1, 2023 the BTP received a report from concerned individuals who had witnessed the horse in distress on the railroad tracks. The Hoo Peninsula area suddenly became the center of attention as officers rushed to the scene.

The urgency required by the horse rescue team was evident, prompting immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of the stranded animal.

Upon arriving at the scene, the BTP officers were relieved to find that members of the public had already sprung into action to save the lost horse. Braving the potential dangers, these compassionate individuals had managed to cut through the fence, securing the horse and preventing any further harm.

It was a heartwarming display of community cooperation to protect and help an animal in need, even when faced with challenging circumstances.

The horse’s immediate safety was now assured, but the horse’s rescuers faced another challenge.

The BTP officers and good samaritans had to devise a plan to extricate the horse from its precarious position near the tracks. Working together seamlessly, they carefully guided the horse away from the tracks, ensuring the poor creature’s safe passage to solid ground.

Initially, BTP believed that the horse would need to be handed over to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) for further care. However, in a turn of events that filled everyone’s hearts with joy, the owner of the horse was quickly located.

The BTP successfully reunited the horse and their owner, marking the triumphant end to this extraordinary tale.
