Reba McEntire Shares Her Thoughts On “The Voice” Winner Asher HaVon

Reba McEntire

Asher HaVon is the newest winner of The Voice, and Reba McEntire isn’t surprised in the least.

Reba McEntire’s second season on the series as a coach was highly successful. The country music star had both the winner, Asher, and runner-up, Josh Sanders, on her team.

While she may not have known in advance that she’d be quite as successful as she was, she had a pretty good idea that Asher would take the crown.

“I’m thrilled to pieces, very grateful. When he picked me after I turned on the blind auditions, I had a sneaking suspicion he was going to be the winning contestant,” Reba told People.

When Asher chose Reba, she told herself, “You got the winner.”

Asher HaVon And Josh Sanders Made Reba McEntire “Feel Like A Proud Mama”

Asher HaVon, 31, caught the world’s attention when he belted a rendition of Adele’s Set Fire to the Rain during the blind auditions. His flawless, powerful, soulful voice earned him a unanimous chair turn. And despite having his pick of coaches, he already knew he wanted to be on Team Reba.

While Reba McEntire was fairly certain he had it in the bag, the big win still felt surreal for Asher HaVon.

“I feel like I’m dreaming,” he told the publication. “And I’m waiting for my alarm clock to wake up, but there’s no alarm clock, and I’m not dreaming. I’m so excited.”

Asher’s victory earned him a $100,000 cash prize and a record deal with Universal Music Group. While the deal doesn’t guarantee success, we’re fairly certain Asher HaVon will find a place in the music industry.

“I feel like a proud mama,” Reba said about Asher and Josh. “A very proud mama. Mama was always very nervous in the audience when I would be singing. And that’s what I felt like when you guys would be singing.”
