Being the mother of a professional athlete is no easy task. While millions of people tune in to watch their favorite team play, as a mom, you see your baby. For you, it’s the child you drove back and forth to practice. You see the person you cooked special meals for their birthday, and made sure their lucky socks were clean before a game. Moms see the child whose injuries they nursed and who cried as their child cried following a big loss. Randi Mahomes, mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, knows these feelings all too well. She penned an emotional message to her son on Instagram ahead of his 10th season in the National Football League.

Randi Mahomes is Incredibly Proud of Her Son
“These years in the NFL have flown by, but watching you step into your purpose and chase your dreams has never stopped feeling special. Looking back through these photos just reminds me how far you’ve come and how much heart you’ve put into every single season,” she wrote. “I am so proud of the man you are, on and off the field. Here’s to your 10th year! To years of dedication, resilience, doing what you love, and to many more chapters ahead! I love you!”
Seeing the message meant a lot to football fans. “He’s so lucky to have you as a mama. We are cheering for him and a quick and full recovery,” someone wrote.
Others let Randi Mahomes know just how much they appreciated what she’s done for her son.
“thank you for giving birth to Pat,” someone joked.
This person posted a truly beautiful comment.
“He had a great teacher in his Mama, who guided him on his journey from a boy to being an adult. Not only is your son one of the best QB’s to ever play the game, he is an actual nice person. That was taught to him by the most important person growing up,” they wrote. “You are a Mom that wants nothing from him, you just want to step back and watch him shine as a football player, as a man and as a husband and father. Blessings to you!”
