If you’d just been channel surfing that day and happened to land on the Rachael Ray Show, you might have thought Rachel’s two guests were just friends or casual acquaintances– a barista and one of his frequent customers, perhaps, or a tattoo artist trying to talk his client out of a particular tattoo.
But, as unlikely as it appears, Brandon and Clara Belle are a long-time couple. And they love each other despite his rather uncomplicated views about fashion and personal style in comparison to her glamorous ways.

Brandon convinced his girlfriend to appear on that recent episode under the pretense of a makeover performed by none other than renowned style expert Gretta Monahan.

While Clara Belle is wearing a pink, faux fur coat and dress, he stands in stark contrast in jeans and simple blue shirt. His long brown hair hangs well below his shoulders, and long facial hair masks the bottom half of his face.

But before Gretta begins the transformation, Rachael comments that Brandon appears perfectly comfortable in his own skin, but has to feel at least a little bit awkward out in public with such a fashion-conscious woman at his side.

“Sometimes I do get that, but then it just kind of goes quick because it’s like a compliment to me because she’s so beautiful and I’m lucky to have a girl like her,” he replies.
“I just want to warn you all that your jaws are gonna drop,”Gretta excitedly tells Rachael, Clara Belle and the audience. “I have something in store for him that you’re not going to believe!â€

You can’t tell whether Clara Belle’s jaw literally dropped when the post-makeover Brandon steps back out on stage, though, because she raises her hands to her mouth in utter disbelief.
Brandon is completely unrecognizable, sharply dressed in a charcoal-gray suit and tie over a black shirt, his hair respectably trimmed and slicked back; just a dusting of fashionable stubble covers the facial area that his scraggly beard and mustache had long ago conquered.

Clara Belle, quite obviously happy with the new Brandon, was probably expecting to be at least somewhat taken aback by Gretta’s work. But the real surprise comes at the end, when Brandon discloses the true motivation for bringing her on the Rachael Ray Show.
“You seem kind of speechless … but you’ve gotta have something to say,” Rachael slyly says to Brandon.
“I do,” he agrees.
