Yellowstone, the world’s first national park, is home to many animals. According to the park’s website, there are 67 species of mammals, 330 species of birds, and 16 species of fish. Still, witnessing an encounter like the one is surprisingly rare. There are a few reasons for this, but the park being larger than both Rhode Island and Delaware combined certainly must add to it.

“If you’ve ever been to Yellowstone,” Becca wrote in the caption of her post, “you know how rare and special this wolf sighting was.”
To put this into perspective, according to a commenter, people usually wake up before sunrise to get a chance at spotting one of these wolves. Meanwhile, this one decided to casually stroll around in the middle of the day. What a reminder that, when humans visit these parks, we really are just visitors!
