Celebrities Team Up For Hilarious Quarantine Remake Of “The Princess Bride.”

Quarantine-induced boredom has sparked countless creative projects, including one that has “The Princess Bride” fans cheering.

During the months spent in lockdown, Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, Josh Gad, and other celebrities secretly teamed up from afar to bring the world something it didn’t know it needed: a hilariously cheesy remake of the 1987 classic.

Filmmaker Jason Reitman came up with the idea in March after California received its stay-at-home order.

“I just thought, Can we remake an entire movie at home? he told Vanity Fair. “I just started reaching out to actors I knew, saying, ‘Is this something you’d want to do?’ And the response was kind of immediate and fast. It was like, ‘Oh–that sounds like fun.'”

He figured it was a great way to pass the time, spread laughter – and raise money for charity! The streaming service Quibi agreed to release it as a series, making a $1 million donation to World Central Kitchen, which provides meals to families affected by COVID-19.

That said, the project posed a bit of a challenge to the actors. Everyone recorded their scenes separately at home with little to no communication with the director. But it helped to recruit real-life couples living together for romantic scenes. And while awkward and goofy, it turned out surprisingly charming!

The actors put their own playful spin on the film’s iconic scenes, including one in which a cushion-wearing Corgi viciously “attacks” Westley (Turner) with kisses.

In another, Jack Black plays Westley climbing the “Cliffs of Insanity” while Diego Luna, as the revenge-seeking Inigo Montoya, watches at the top.

What an awesome project! We can only imagine how much fun the actors had playing the beloved characters many of us grew up watching. Quibi aired the series on June 29, so be sure to check it out! If you love “The Princess Bride,” this is something you won’t want to miss.
