Puppy Left In Dangerously Hot Car Has New Home With Firefighters Who Rescued Him.

A rescued pup is now this fire department's support animal.

When firefighters saw this adorable pooch trapped inside a car on a hot day, they knew they needed to rescue him. However, they didn’t expect to fall head over heels in love! WCYB tells us that the dog was found in a vehicle parked by a Connecticut beach and that heat levels were up to 122 degrees. After receiving treatment, the little guy was relinquished into the care of animal control. That’s when the East Haven Fire Department decided to adopt him as their station support dog!

To choose a new name for the dog, the fire department enlisted the help of local community members through Facebook. They shared a poll with a variety of options including Cinder, Ash, and Spartan. However, the landslide winner was Riggs!

“He is an official ambassador for the department,” said Mayor Joseph Carforna, according to another Facebook post. “Riggs is an Eastie now.”
