L.A. On Cloud 9, a non-profit organization that helps get food to homeless people and their pets, was in South Los Angeles, when they spotted a dog in the Los Angeles river and made an emergency call to Hope for Paws. They were told by locals that a homeless man strangled the dog and cut off his leg before tossing him into river below.

This little guy had spent two days inside river basin, clinging to life on an empty chip bag. The pup had severe mange, bacterial infections, was malnourished, dehydrated and of course missing his hind leg.
Hope for Paws co-founder Eldad Hagar used a ladder to get into the basin to retrieve the pup. The dog was in so much pain that he had to be placed inside a basket and carefully lifted out of the ravine. Hagar named the pup Jordan -like the Jordan river- while rushing the critically injured dog to an emergency veterinary clinic.
The Veterinarian said it was a miracle Jordan was still alive. On his third day of treatment he was given a bath and blood transfusion. On his fourth day he was finally strong enough for surgery. Remarkably, after just a few days of tender loving care he was ready to go to a foster family.
Check out the amazing rehabilitation in the video below!
Best of all we get to report that Jordan has been adopted! Check the link to see how the little guy is doing.
