Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid had an exciting road to his big win on Feb. 11, and his grandkids were right alongside him for the ups and downs with love and bear hugs.
Andy experienced every NFL coach and player’s dream when his team won Super Bowl LVIII, and that dream came with the thrill of a lifetime when Mecole Hardman surprisingly scored the winning touchdown during overtime.
The second Mecole caught the ball, Andy, and everyone else on the team, went wild with excitement. Andy fell on the field with Chris Jones, hugged his players, and thanked the fans during the post-game show.
Because of the raw emotion and absolute joy he showed, videos of Andy celebrating with his team and friends have been circulating all over social media in the days following the game. The attention made another video come back into the spotlight.
Andy Reid Celebrates a Playoff Win With His Grandkids.
The clip shows the 65-year-old just after the Chiefs defeated the Bangles at Arrowhead Stadium on Jan. 1st. The win was one step closer to the Super Bowl, and he was lost in a happy thought. As he was heading home for the night, his trip to cloud nine got a little better when six of his grandkids surprised him with a group embrace.
One of his grandkids seemingly came out of nowhere and ran full speed into his arms. Andy picked him up and held him close as four more kids ran and jumped on him. Finally, a tiny tot made his way over and joined the crew.
Andy took a minute to thank each of them separately, and then the family held each other close before leaving together.
“Why does this have me crying lol?” a user wrote.
“You can tell that he’s a wonderful grandpa,” commented a fan. “The way they interact with him. I love this! I miss my Grandpa.”
“Not a Chiefs fan but love Coach Reid,” someone else admitted. “This is what it’s all about.”
Andy Reid is the proud father of five children and grandfather of 12.
