Pizza Hut Gets Fancy With Its New Topping & Fans Love The Bougie Twist

We understand that times are tough for plenty of businesses, so they must get creative and encourage customers to spend their hard-earned money with them. Pizza Hut fans wonder if the restaurant is feeling some kind of crunch because its latest menu item was too bizarre for some people. From April 10 to April 12, Pizza Hut offered “Pizza Caviar” at its location on 8th Avenue in New York. The brand decided to capitalize on the caviar trend with a very limited drop.

Per Pizza Hut, “Crafted to replicate the look and feel of traditional caviar – without the fish – Pizza Caviar delivers a bold, smoky pepperoni flavor in a fun new form. Pizza Caviar is the star of the brand-new Pizza Caviar Bump Box – a luxe, limited-time twist on My Hut Box®, Pizza Hut’s signature combo meal**. The Box includes one cheese Personal Pan Pizza® and choice of 3 plain boneless wings or fries, all topped with bursts of pepperoni-flavored “Pizza Caviar.”

Pizza Hut Caviar Had Mixed Reviews

Pizza Hut posted about the new caviar on Instagram and not everyone seemed excited. Like this person who wrote, “No one asked for this, especially during times of economic turmoil. So tone deaf and gross at the same time.”

And Papa John’s joked, “Y’all late to April Fools Day?”

But a TikToker named Gwenyth tried the Pizza Hut Caviar and seemed to enjoy it. She posted a recap of the funky food offering ahead of the launch in NYC. She said, “The Pizza flavored caviar bursts in your mouth, and the communication of flavors is perfect.”

Some fans were super bummed to have missed the drop. “wait I’m so mad this is only in NY! @Pizza Hut, bring this to LA.”

Another person posted next to a crying emoji, “seeing this on April 13.”

There is no word on whether caviar will make another appearance, but the brand seemed excited about the new offering.

“As a brand that’s always pushing the boundaries of what pizza culture can be, we saw an opportunity to take one of today’s biggest food trends and make it our own,” Melissa Friebe, Chief Marketing Officer of Pizza Hut, said in a release. “Pizza Caviar is our way of bringing a touch of indulgence, while staying true to the flavors people love from Pizza Hut.”
