At a Dutch Bros coffee stand in Vancouver, WA, something incredible happened. Three baristas created a circle of support for a random customer who was clearly breaking down.
Another customer witnessed the entire thing and snapped a photo in action. Here was her account:
“Snapped this picture while waiting in line at the Dutch Bros on 138th Avenue today. Turns out the young lady in line ahead of us lost her 37-year-old husband last night. When the DB guys & gals noticed she was falling apart, they stopped everything and prayed with her for several minutes, invited her to come back for prayer and support, as well as anything else that she might need. Prayers for the young family, and you know where to stop for coffee!”
Since she posted the photo, it’s impacted millions of people around the globe.

Here are a few of the most moving comments:
Natalie Bancroft I am not religious, but THIS is what we need for humanity: Empathy and understanding, true human connection, and love. Way to go Dutch Bros., once again, you did an amazing job at hiring your staff.
Hailey Blaylock I am just so proud of my coworkers and so proud to be a part of this company. We are not just a cup of coffee, we are a support system for whoever needs us! I love you all. This customer is so wonderful and she is the one that really deserves credit for her strength to get out of bed and be there for her three young children when they need her most. I hope she continues to be strong and we continue to change lives!
Doug Stewart Words can’t express how amazing this is!!!!!
Alysia ‘Sherman’ Brewer I’m so blessed to work for Dutch Bros. We have the freedom to care and love on our customers which makes my job amazing. I’ve prayed with customers, hugged customers, celebrated pregnancies and held hands while people are heading to a funeral. I wish more businesses encouraged their employees the way Dutch does!
Dutch Bros seems like a truly incredible place to work.
Evan Freeman, one of the baristas, told KPTV, “She’s like, ‘She’s just having a really bad day. Her husband passed.’ And as soon as she said that, I was like, ‘There’s nothing more you need to say. We got this. We’re going to do what we do every time we get someone who’s in pain or hurt. We’re going to give them our love.”
Regardless of what you believe, this is powerful because it shows extreme compassion and care for a stranger.
Share this amazing show of kindness and love, and maybe you can inspire others to do the same!
