Pentatonix Beautifully Orchestrates Fans To Sing A 3-Part Harmony To “California Dreamin.'”

Scott Hoying of Pentatonix leads a crowd in Dallas at a concert to sing. The lights on the stage make the space look blue. Text on the image reads: Watch us build a 3-part harmony to “California Dreamin” with our crowd

Pentatonix is known for turning songs into a cappella masterpieces, but at a recent concert in Dallas, they had the crowd join in on the fun. In a TikTok capturing this beautiful moment, one of the band members, Scott Hoying, can be seen teaching the crowd how to sing “California Dreamin'” by The Mamas & the Papas. To create the harmonies, he instructs the crowd to sing one of three parts: low, middle, or high.

With each section Hoying teaches the crowd to sing, it becomes increasingly clear how amazing they’ll all sound singing at the same time. This is proven to be the case seconds later when all 5,595 of them join in to sing, “All the leaves are brown, and the sky is gray.”

The result? A massive crowd of folks singing in harmony so beautifully, the comment section where the video was shared is full of people admitting that the video made them emotional — and I feel the same way! Hearing thousands of voices come together to sing is such a unique delight and an incredible reminder of what we can do when we work to create something beautiful.

Watch Pentatonix and their crowd create an unforgettably magical moment in the video below.
