Paul Simon fans hoping to see the legendary singer perform in Philadelphia this weekend got sad news. Paul canceled shows scheduled for June 28 and 29 due to “chronic and intense back pain.” The 83-year-old singer shared the news on Instagram and explained that his pain had become unmanageable and required immediate medical attention.

“However, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure, which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates,” the statement read. “In the meantime, please go to your point of purchase or local ticket provider for a full refund.”
Paul Simon’s “A Quiet Celebration” Tour Has Future Dates Planned
According to his website, Paul Simon is scheduled to play fifteen more shows on his Quiet Celebration Tour. At this time, future performances beginning on July 7 are still on.
The news saddened Paul’s fans, who wished him a speedy recovery.
“We hope you’re able heal and get well soon Paul! It was a pleasure caffeinating you and your band and crew,” a fan shared.
“Just landed in Philadelphia from Scotland for the concert, gutted! Hope it’s nothing serious, get well soon,” a disappointed Paul Simon fan shared.
Some thought Paul’s message was something much more devastating.
“Heart almost stopped,” a fan admitted. “Take care Paul. Greatest Songwriter of all Time! I pray you get relief from your pain. Love, your fan!”

This fan wanted to thank Paul Simon for opening their heart to photography.
“Please tell Paul thank you for my start in photography at the age of 8 or 9, thanks to the song Kodachrome (I was so mad someone’s mama wanted to take away their camera! I rebelled for him by asking for a Kodak instamatic for Christmas.) Almost 50 yrs later, I had a photograph up in a major museum, and I wanted to thank Paul Simon for my start,” they wrote.
