Michael Phelps And The Rest Of The USA Swimmers Do Hysterical Lip Sync Performance.

olympic swimmers lip sync in car

In 2012, the swimmers of Team USA uploaded a video of their journey to the London Olympics as they lip-synced to Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe” all along the way. The video quickly went viral, but the video from the 2016 team is even better!

This year, the swimmers all pile into 9 cars and head to the ‘Rio Olympics’, road tripping together from Atlanta. Well, at least that is what they pretend to do. Along the way, they jam out to hits from Fifth Harmony’s BO$$”, Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?”, to classics like The Proclaimer’s “I’m Gonna Be” and the Pokémon theme song. At one point they start to play “Call Me Maybe Again,” but Missy Franklin quickly shuts that down. I guess she had enough of it in 2012!

The video is pure fun. These athletes have been working hard in preparation for the Olympics, but this is their chance to let loose! There’s something about watching Michael Phelps dancing along to “Chicken Fried” and Katie Ledecky fret about driving “four other Olympians” that just makes you smile!

The video ends with Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the USA.” What better song for Team USA to end on?

It’s clear that these swimmers all have a very special bond, and they can’t wait to take on Rio together. Check out the video below!
