At 81 years old, Steven Austin isn’t your average TikTok user.
But that hasn’t stopped the Dallas native from becoming a star on the video-sharing app, where he goes by “Old Man Steve.” His wholesome videos have captured the hearts of thousands, many of whom wish he was their grandpa!

Steve has always been an entertainer. He worked at the Dallas Summer Musicals box office for 20 years and has his own YouTube and Instagram accounts. So he figured, why not join TikTok as well? It’s just another way to do what he loves!
“I’ve always been a jokester, so I guess it’s just me,” he told Today. “Besides, I hope it makes people smile or laugh and maybe have a better day.”

In some videos, he shares his plans for the day or the chores he’s currently working on. In others, he gives lessons on making simple meals like frozen biscuits and cereal. The recipes may be simple, but they’re still delightful because we get to see Steve hamming it up with his silly sense of humor.

While Steve never expected to go viral, he’s enjoying every second of his newfound fame and all the responses from his fans.
“Most of them are young people, and they want me to be their grandpa or call me grandpa or I remind them of their grandpa,” he told Daily Mail. “As I have no children or grandkids, this has been such a joy to me, and it makes me feel not so alone and loved.”
