When quick reflexes matter most, we want Officer Matthew Stewart on our side. Stewart was on the side of Highway 23 in Gate City, Virginia, investigating a car accident when dashcam video captured a heart-stopping moment. Officer Jessica McGraw had her back to the highway as she conferred with Stewart. Suddenly, an out-of-control white car comes flying off the road — straight toward where the two cops are standing.

In a flash, Stewart sees the car coming and grasps his coworker by the arms, pulling her off the roadside and onto the grassy shoulder. It happens so quickly that it’s hard to believe they made it out alive!

The driver of the speeding car got a ticket for failure to control their vehicle, and Officers Stewart and McGraw went right back to work. In fact, Stewart’s first instinct was to rush toward the white car to check on the driver!

Aside from a little numbness in Stewart’s leg, no one was hurt. Once you see the footage, you’ll join us in wondering how they made it out of this situation unharmed!

Watch the heart-stopping dashcam footage below, and be sure to share this dramatic rescue.
