Nursing Home Residents Take Field Trip To The Beach And It’s So Wholesome.

Nursing home volunteers take a resident to the beach.

A nursing home in Brazil is proving that there are some things you’re never too old for — like taking a trip to the beach! Residents from care facility Residencial De La Maris are having lots of fun in the sun thanks to volunteers. There are plenty of sweet videos on the nursing home’s Instagram page showing footage of these seaside outings. Many of the elderly residents are clearly so thrilled to be in the water!

Residencial De La Maris specializes in “Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s and other conditions,” so many of their patients remain in their elder care facility long-term. Taking trips to the beach is one of the ways that the nursing home improves their quality of life!

94-year-old Odyla is one of many residents who has benefitted from visiting the sea. According to Residencial De La Maris, she was initially hesitant about getting into the water. However, she ended up loving it so much, they almost couldn’t get her to go home after the beach trip!

Another resident, Antonio, was brought into the water in a special wheelchair. On Instagram, the nursing home said that he’d lost most of his memory. He still had lots of fun on his trip to the beach!

“Antonio remembers very little of his past, but he still knows what is good, on this day he praised the tour a lot and said that everything was wonderful,” reads the caption (translated from Portuguese).

Thanks to these beach trips, elderly nursing home residents get to enjoy the rejuvenating power of sunshine and sea air. It’s so beautiful to see the joy on their faces!
